I don't know how so many get so rich, but what really gets me is how some people just get the money to have it, they don't plan to ever use/spend it. They just think it makes them cool to have like 1 million plat in their storage. They farm for lack of anything else to do just to build it up.
But anyway, I don't know if you can be that rich but I don't find making money that easy in the game. My other method is doing all the Kourna, Kaineng City, and Vabbian quests and getting things worth plats each (gems, superior salvage kits).

You don't get 'uber' rich by farming. Farming is a means of steady income, nothing more. You can get rich by farming, but a few million isn't in the league in which we are discussing.
Anyone can have ecto, and plenty of it. The builds are there for everyone. There is no reason why you should have to scrap by. Farming might be tedious and dull, but then so is questing and just about every other thing in GW if you do it too much.
I'll get around to adding an in depth guide to trading one day. Rusty has done a good job of covering the basics, pop over to Community Works and have a look. If you prefer, PM me with any questions you might have, and I'll do my up most to help you out. I can't do PC's mind, been out of it for far too long, but the basics to trading never change, no matter what game it is.

Everytime someone says "dupe" I want to slap someone.
It's called FARMING. I'm SORRY that you can't possibly understand how people get more shit than you, but we don't have to cheat or exploit.

It is not like it is real life or anything. I haven't used any high end chest keys yet I hope that bring something my way.I have been down to the UW about 10 times and no ecto for me only 1 drop was in TOPK.It is either by luck or this game hates me.

lol and anytime i see someone who is naive enough to believe that all the duped armbraces were removed i want to slap someone. before i quit the game i personally knew a couple of ppl who duped. not everyone who is uber rich duped. some just got that rich because they acquired something of extreme value before the duping incident. after the incident, the injection of the large amounts of armbraces into the game meant that ppl who had those items and sold them incidentally became alot richer. u didnt have to dupe to become rich. not everyone who is rich duped. however, many ppl did indirectly benefit from it.

You can get a load of money just playing the game... or less. Theres no reson to have 50k or whatever, when you can get around 100k from predictions, the only effort required to look in the pvp area/observe and see who's doing well. If you start to save money in every way possible, stop buying stuff you dont need etc, the cash will pile in. Playing in HM and doing some elite areas help it along too.
Also, WTF is wrong in letting your cash pile up. If I dont have anything I want to buy so decide to see how much i can get, what is wrong with that? Should I just stop earning money because I dont have another 15k set lined up to buy?

Time to add my 2c.
Let me tell you a tale of when I was standing idle in EotN, and someone else was asking to see other people's HoM. I thought, "Hrm, that's not something you see every day." But, instead of offering her to see mine, I asked to see her's instead.
After seeing a very decorated HoM, I had quite the discussion with said person (hereafter referred to as Alice to protect the guilty). Alice had, and I quote "two pandas" which were, in her opinion, "cheap." Also in her inventory were a mini vizu and a mini zhed which are apparently worth some money (sorry, I'm not up on the 10000000000000+g minipet market). She also said she had many armbraces (I forget the exact amount), and was willing to trade everything for a mini kanaxi, due to their extreme rarity.
The conversation continued when I asked if she had a celestial compass that I might purchase from her (a very expensive item for my wealth). She explained, kindly, that she wasn't interested in "anything worth less than 500k". After Alice continued to flaunt her snobbishness, I decided it was time to leave for some more fruitful endeavors.
Now, if all being rich, whether it be in a game or IRL does is make you a %&@*ing snob, then I'll pass.

Ok. I'm done.

We made stupid amounts of money back when LBS started. Stupid amounts. And then many of us became power traders. Getting lucky a couple of times doesn't hurt(I paid 20k for a 14% Unconditional Shortbow, 60k for a r7 15% Axe, happened to have a couple of 15% FFS when they were nerfed, etc.). Back in the old days unidentified golds sold for 10-50k+ each (and if you spoke chinese you could pick them up for 500g). I had a bunch, got bored, spent it all and now have approximately 0 ecto.
It is a game. And it doesn't matter. Enjoy yourself and don't worry about anyone else... unless you are willing to put the time and effort in becoming a baller.
Thanks for this thread, it reminded me of why I still read this forum from time to time.

I would say that it is very easy to become rich in the game. It might take some time buy to crave out a niche is the first way to start.
The fist thing is that what every you decide to do must be fun to you. I like to grind and I like Pre-searing so I farm hunter's ales in presearing. There are lots of people that now have perma pre toons and enjoy killing the charr int he northlands so that keeps the amount of gold in pre steady. There are only 2 ways to get gold in pre. Kill a monster and get the gold as a drop or sell the item to the merchant to get the gold.
There is a lot of wealth there in pre that is for sure so I can imagine how much gold there is in post. I know that my one toon had 100K in post and that is a drop in the bucket that is for sure.

Getting money is all about being in the right place at the right time.... The right chest, drop, buyer, seller, farming partner. When the stars allign you will get money. The stars already aligned for these super rich people so they have money to trade with. When you get enough money to trade with, then you can start making the big dollars. (I am getting closer, but still a long way off, I feel your pain.)

People can dupe all they want in-game, it's just a game, I dont care...
If I, however know from people, that there is certain people who sold Zaishen Keys/Stays of Ecto's to make well over 5000$, there is a certain strain of jealousy...
Yes, I myself know a person who sold several stacks for over 2000$ (Duped)

Here's my story about how I became ballin in Guild Wars, without even playing the game. Y'all either know my status, or you don't need to know.
All the Xunlai Bitches know my name
All the Tyrian Bitches know I got game
All the Elonian Bitches know I move cocaine
If you disrespect your ass gets Derv trained
Haha that was just some simple shit, this here the real deal yo aight check it
I move more Canthan white than the Shiver-peaks
If you got the ectos I got crack so come hither beetch
Hold up let me check your titles, better not be White Mantle
Cuz I've put more Amfah snitches in ditches, I keep my riches
To underagers I supply Dwarven Ale, alcohol train heavier than conga by Gaile
Lion's Arch Guards move slow like Flail, they start moving when I finished the sale
Try to step up to me you get KD'd like gale, you ain't runnin 8 in Gangsta Mastery so your skills fail
White Mantle trynna subpoena me through mail, haha elonian plz, I'm more holier than your Veil
Now this would be longer cept I gotta hustle y'all, this is the story of a true OG on the streets of Cantha, word to your mother
Maybe next time, unless you trynna be Mursaat cuz you get broken then I collect your token.
R.I.P. B-Mac yo, Bernie rest in peace all elona praying for you.
